High-level webinar marks start of new phase of PINTAR Study

In commemoration of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, the PINTAR research team successfully organised a webinar with the theme “Spread Awareness, Stop Resistance” on 27th November.

The webinar, specifically targeted to pharmacists who work at pharmacies in Semarang City, registered 190 attendees.

The session was officially opened by the Head of Semarang Local Board of Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI), apt. I Kadek Bagiana, accompanied by Chief Investigators of the PINTAR Study, Professor Tri Wibawa and Professor Ari Probandari, as well as representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Indonesia’s Ministry of Health.

The first plenary speaker, Dr Benyamin Sihombing (National Professional Officer for AMR at WHO, addressed the WHO Indonesia Global Strategy and Program in the Prevention and Control of Antimicrobial Resistance.

The second plenary speaker, Dita Novianti Sugandi Argadiredja (Director of Pharmaceutical Services at the Ministry of Health) presented National Policies and Action Plans on the Prevention and Control of Antimicrobial Resistance.

The session followed with presentations by PINTAR researchers Dr Yusuf Ari Mushuri and Dr Astri Ferdiana, as well as Linda Noviamila (Coordinator of the Section for Organization and Membership of the local pharmacist association of Semarang City), before the speakers took questions from the audience.

The organisers hope that the webinar was an educational channel, especially among pharmacists working in Semarang City, so they can improve the services towards a rational use of antibiotics as an effort to prevent antimicrobial resistance in the community.

Webinar participants received an e-certificate and a membership credit unit from the local pharmacist association of Semarang city.
